American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77 member Bonnie Hubert announces the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Gala. The CASA Gala will be held at the Waterway Marriott in The Woodlands, Texas on January 30, 2010. The event is a fundraiser which benefits abused and neglected children. The objectives and purposes of the Houston Military Affairs Committee (HMAC) are to promote the image of the Armed Forces of the United States by providing a forum for appropriate speakers, participating in special events having local and national significance, supporting the activities of both Active and Reserve Forces, and creating an organization which will meet the professional and social needs of its members in the Houston area.
In support of the Armed Forces of the United States, every year the Houston Military Affairs Committee (HMAC) organizes the Houston Military Affairs Ball. The ball is sponsored annually by a different branch of the military. the 2009 Houston Military Affairs Ball was proudly sponsored by the United States Coast Guard with Commander Lamar Johnson leading the planning and execution of this prestigious event.

American Legion Post 77 and Auxiliary Unit 77 join together at the Houston VA Cemetary on Memorial Day 2009 to lay a beautiful wreath in honor of our fallen veterans.





During the July, 2009 Annual American Legion Department Convention, the TEXALPA Dan Fallon 1st place award for website excellence was awarded to the American Legion Post 77 and Unit 77 – Houston, TX. Our site www.txlegionpost77.com was launched earlier this year as a new design by our designer Callaway Web Design. As a TEXALPA member, Callaway Web Design continues to advance the standards and practices of communications through our professional website.
The purposes of TEXALPA shall be to foster publications and advance the standards and practices of communications within The American Legion, Department of Texas in the Department, Divisions, Districts, and Posts, and in their Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, or affiliated organizations as may be represented by the membership.
This purpose shall be carried out through the specific objectives:
1. To promote understanding, cooperation and an exchange of ideas among members.
2. To promote the development and application of improved methods and programs of communications.
3. To demonstrate the practical value of effective communication and public relations, both internal and external.
4. To promote the training and development of individual members through the collection and dissemination of information of value and interest to the members.
5. To encourage the professional development of members.
6. To assist in promoting the purposes and programs of The American Legion.
7. To act as the voice of TEXALPA membership before The Department of Texas, The American Legion.
8. To strive for the highest etical standards in carrying out these objectives and the National American Legion Press Association; and to consider legislative proposals affecting publications or mailing of the publications.
Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month; except July and August (installation of new officers) at 19:00 (7:00 p.m.) hours. We welcome you to join us at the Bayland Community Center, 6400 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas 77074.
