ASTROS programs for Military
The Houston Astros, in partnership with USO-Houston, have two programs benefiting service members and their families again this season: Home Sweet Home and On The Home Front.
The Astros Home Sweet Home Program welcomes recently returned military personnel from combat overseas and in the US to Astros home games. Each Sunday afternoon home game, the program welcomes a small group of service men and women and their gueststo a special Astros experience that includes an on-field batting practice visit. They will watch the game from a luxury suite and be introduced to the crowd prior to the seventh inning singing of God Bless America. 12 suite tickets per game; at least half of attendees must be uniformed military who served in support of GWOT (overseas and stateside) in the past 6 months. Spaces still available for troops on 29 JUL (Pirates), 2 SEP (Reds), and 23 SEP (Pirates).
With loved ones defending the United States both on the home front and abroad, the Astros On The Home Front program honors the tremendous sacrifices made by military families while their loved ones are away defending our freedom. Once a month, military families are given free tickets to a game and hosted to a batting practice visit. 20 tickets per game; must be immediate family members of deployed troops. Spaces still available for military family members on 10 AUG (Brewers) and 21 SEP (Pirates).
If you are interested in participating in one of these great programs, contact the USO-Houston team at usohouston@uso.org or (281) 929-2678.

They are committed to the Vets-Cars Code of Conduct and have taken the pledge to offer U.S. Veterans and Service families thanks, respect, low up-front pricing and a superior showroom experience. If you’re in the market for a vehicle, support the dealers that are proudly serving those who have served by giving them the opportunity to earn your business and trust.

THE MARINE
THE MARINE
We all came together, Both young and old
To fight for our freedom, To stand and be bold.
In the midst of all evil, We stand our ground,
And we protect our country From all terror around..
Peace and not war, Is what some people say.
But I’ll give my life, So you can live the American way.
I give you the right To talk of your peace. To stand in your groups, And protest in our streets.
But still I fight on, I don’t bitch, I don’t whine. I’m just one of the people Who is doing your time. I’m harder than nails, Stronger than any machine. I’m the immortal soldier,I’m a U..S. MARINE!
So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they’ve shown.
Fight for the stranger, Fight for
the young. So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you’ve won.
Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor.
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.
But when your time comes,
Do what I’ve done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You’ll stand when the fight’s done

Congratulations Micah Petersen!
Legionnaires,
Micah Petersen, Post 77′s Oratorical Winner, finished second in the Texas Department Oratorical Contest February 20, 2012. He has done very well and I think we should all be proud of his accomplishments.
He was disappointed that he did not win, but he knew the winner from Boy’s State where Micah won and went to Boy’s Nation.
Micah’s other good news was that he has been appointed to West Point.
Fraternally,
Bob Osborne
Commander
American Legion Post 77
Houston, Texas
